It's so weird that we're now in 2015. A decade and a half into the 21st century! Seems like just yesterday people were freaking out about Y2K and being excited about entering the "new millennium."

Anyways, last year instead of doing resolutions I decided to do goals. I don't like doing resolutions mostly because the word essentially means to fix and I don't like starting a new year off with the mindset that I need to fix things. So, I just wanted to share my goals with you all this year. So far, I have 10 so far (some of which are just random little things I want to do this year, some things are to better myself in some way). Let me know if you have any goals/resolutions for the coming year!

1) Climb a 14er. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and while I'm a hiker, I've never climbed a single 14er (if you're not familiar with the term, a 14er is a mountain where it's elevation is over 14,000 feet). This was the first goal I thought of and a few weeks ago started getting people on board with me. As of now, I got two of my coworkers in on it and they're going to climb a mountain with me. :)

2) Be more disciplined in my faith. I'll admit that the last couple of years I haven't been that disciplined in my faith. I use to read my Bible daily and was memorizing scripture like a boss, but than I became apathetic in one area of my life and before I knew it, things had seeped over into other areas including my faith. Well, I want to change that. I know this probably won't happen over night, but I think it's a good goal to work towards and hopefully, if things go as I hope, I'll be a different person by the end of the year.

3) Read more, in general. Last year I decided I was going to read 100 books in the new year... that blew up in my face. I think I read something like 4 (though, I did start probably like 15...). So, instead of setting a lofty goal like that I just want to read more than I did last year. That's it. Even if it's 5 books instead of 4, than I will have succeeded. :)

4) Carpe Deim! I'm pulling this goal from last year and running with it this year. I started off strong last yer seizing the day but than I was honest with myself on how I was struggling with stuff and what not and that sent me into a dark place and I just didn't care anymore. The last couple of months, I readopted this motto (I mean, I did karaoke with my coworker at our company's holiday party! I don't do karaoke!) and I want to continue it into the year and until the end.

5) Dye my hair red. So, this is just one of those random, little, silly goals but I've been talking about doing it since 2014 started. First it was case of just not getting around to it, than summer was here and red hair fades like a bitch (or so I'm told), and than I had less than 20 bucks to my name. Now, I have some money and it's winter and I'm going to do it! I just need to talk to management and find out what shades are within dress code (ideally, I want to go a dark cherry red, but I'll go more natural if that shade is frowned upon by my work).

6) Get my first tattoo. The time has come to start getting the tattoos I want. The first one I'm going to get is "2 Corinthians 12:9" on my right wrist. Right now, a lot of it just trying to figure out what font I want to get it in. I'm really excited about this and hopefully I'll be getting it within the next couple of months!! :excited:

7) Be less timid at work. Similar to goal 4, I want to go after what I want and not be so timid to ask about things. I work with great managers who are easy to talk and not going to judge when you ask a question about something you don't know. Overall, I know all of our policies and how to do my job, but sometimes there's small things that happen and I just want to know why but I don't ask. So, I'm going to try to work on changing that this year.

8) Write in my day book daily or close there too. This past summer I went through a workshop that used the book The Creative Call. One of the first things the book asks you to do is to free write for 20 minutes a day in a day book. I started off okay with this but it quickly fell apart on me. So, this year, I'm planning on doing it! Maybe not for 20 minutes a day, every day, but my main goal is to write in it daily even if it's just a few paragraphs or a few pages. The goal is to write in it.

9) Write almost daily. Since I started working two jobs, I haven't done much writing (I'm sure you all notice how little I've been posting here on dA). While I love what I'm doing at the moment, I know it's temporary. I'm not called to the bowling industry but to be a bad ass author. And I haven't been focusing on the writing aspect. So, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to rediscover my first love and start writing daily - or close there too. If I want this dream to be a reality within the next five years, I'm going to have to bust my butt more than what I have been doing.

10) Try for publication. I need to start researching agents (I got a good list to start looking at) and to revise and submit some of my short stories from ye' olden days of creative writing class (okay, maybe not "ye' olden" quite yet) and see what happens there. As I said above, I need more discipline in this area of my life if I want my dream to be a reality within the next 5 years. I may not get publication, but I'm going to try to get something published this year.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this year. The last two years have been rough, but if New Year's Eve was any indication of how the year is going to go, it'll be a good one. Just a little bit about that night: I had to work and didn't want too mostly because of how cold it's been and how busy we were going to be. It ended up being a pretty easy night for my department in all honesty, but we had fun. We danced, we laughed and the COO/owner of my work told me I was one of his very favorites there. It ended up being a good night and in all honesty, possibly one of my favorite New Year's Eves so far. So, here's to 2015! May the year be filled with blessings, adventures and memories that you'll treasure forever! :)
