Hope holds her ground and flashes her sword.
Fear finds his shield and rises in strength.
Sparks fly as the two clash in my mind.
A war of wills and nightly battles.
Hope surges as Fear flourishes,
locked in their hand to hand combat.
I feel Hope make a blow to Fear.
Fear will strike her even harder,
as their fight continues on.
The conflict will never end
as Hope fights off Fear
and Fear fights her back.
The thoughts produced by both
struggle to gain ground on the other
as the lifelong war rages on.
My mind will be their battleground,
a landscape for their bloody war.
Hope and Fear, sworn enemies.

Got to thinking last night how hope always seems to push us forward and yet fear will always hold us back. The two always seem to be at war over something within the mind.
